The German "Year of Science - Year of Mathematics 2008" and the 2nd anniversary of the Graduate School motivated the plans for this event, where the school will present itself to the public.

A first, official part will be dedicated to addresses by guests from China and Germany, as well as a presentation of the school by the spokesmen and the PhD students.

The second part will be formed by 4 lectures. The speakers are from Germany, Switzerland, the USA and China, and represent the core areas of research within the school: Stochastics, and its applications in Economics and Physics:

Hans Föllmer (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin)
Jürg Fröhlich (ETH Zürich)
Leonard Gross (Cornell University)
Shige Peng (Chinese Academy of Science and Shandong University)

Since this workshop is part of the programme of the "Year of Mathematics", the first lecture (by Prof. Föllmer) will be given as a "public lecture".

Morning Programme:

9:00 Official Addresses
Presentation of the International Graduate College
Coffee Break

12:00 Public Lecture*

Note. Of course, all lectures of the day are open to everybody.
However, while the lectures of the afternoon will be addressed rather to students and scientists in Stochastics and its applications in Physics, the Public Lecture in the morning will be addressed to a general audience.

13:00 Lunch Break
During the break (starting at about 13:30)
Presentation of Posters about the work and results of students of the College

Afternoon Programme:

14:30 Lectures
